Where can I find a recipe?
Posted by: Christine Bulson

You can usually find a particular recipe by googling it, but cookstr.com provides a weekly newsletter with recipes specific to the week.  The current newsletter provides “Ten Dishes for the 4th of July.”  The recipes are from chefs and authors of cookbooks and include Marcella Hazan’s Grilled Bread with Olive Oil, Garlic, and Tomato, Steven Raichlen’s Mango Grilled Chicken, and Lime Mousse from Julee Rosso and Sheila Lukins.  The site also provides the usual search options by recipe, ingredients and chef.

Will Schwalbe, who was editor in chief of Hyperion Books, started cookstr.com to showcase both famous and little-known chefs but to ultimately sell cookbooks.   The biographies of the more than 100 contributors are accompanied by pictures of their cookbooks with links to retailers that sell the books.  Still in a Beta version, the publisher is promising other options including MyCookstr  where recipes can be save with notes and even shopping lists.
