Arts Journal: Daily Arts News
Posted by: Craig Bunch
For several years, one of my favorite websites has been Arts Journal: Daily Arts News. I would spend an hour a day on it if I had the time (and frequently I have). In the left column are Arts Journal’s titles–usually different from the actual title–and a few lines of new and interesting articles selected by the editors, each linked to the full article. Today’s entries link to pieces from the Los Angeles Times, Slate, The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC, The Australian and Wired (among many others). This is the arts broadly conceived: issues, dance, ideas, media, music, people, publishing, theatre, and visual arts.
The right column links to dozens of arts-related blogs, including many written specifically for Arts Journal. The latter blogs include Terry Teachout on the arts in New York City, Tyler Green on modern art, and Andrew Taylor on the business of arts and culture.
If one has not visited the site for a while, “Previous Days” will take you back in time a bit. Searching the site’s archives will take you back several years. My quick searches today on Cy Twombly, Pat Metheny, and Soft Machine all turned up interesting hits.
If there is a better single, free source for keeping one up-to-date on arts and culture, I’d like to hear about it.
