Web Site of the Week: DisneyDigitalBooks.com

Although DisneyDigitalBooks is a commercial site with a subscription price of $79.95 a year, school and public librarians may be hearing about it from elementary school students. Disney Publishing is putting their whole children’s catalog online and selling it to parents. The books are arranged by reading level beginning with the look and listen section read aloud . Other levels are for children who read on their own. If they don’t know a word they can click on it and the word is pronounced and a printed definition pops up. Pages are turned like a “normal” book. About 500 boooks are available now with plans to add more twice a month. Is this the new wave of children’s book publishing?
