Holiday safety
Posted by: Barbara Bibel

As you begin your last-minute holiday preparations, here is information that could save your life. Consumer reports has launched a new free Web site with information about dangerous products and recalls. It has news and videos about products recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It also has videos about fitting bicycle helmets, proper use of sunscreen for children, and safety gates. So if you want to be sure that the toy your child received as a gift is safe and the hazelnuts you are about to use in your cookies are not contaminated, go to www.consumerreports.org/safetyalertsand remember to be careful when opening those pesky plastic clamshell containers. Every year 6,000 people end up in the emergency room with injuries caused by packaging materials.
