Traveling

Travelers must do a fair amount of research to prepare for a trip. We have patrons who request maps, guidebooks, language-learning materials, and in-depth information about their destinations. We also get locals trying to figure out how to get from pointA to point B via public transportation. One of our regular patrons wants to find the most efficient way to get around in his wheelchair without the hassle of getting on the bus. Google Maps is wonderful for this. It provides options for driving, walking, and using public transit. Of course it helps to verify if possible. I know that using it to get to places from my home, the route that it provides from my house to the nearest freeway on ramp is definitely the scenic route! Once on the freeway, though, it is accurate. I just used it to while planning my trip to Boston for Midwinter. I can now get to my hotel from the airport on the T for $3.50-much less than taking the shuttle. I hope to see some of you there.

Be sure to double-check your T directions at mbta.com. They even have a trip planner tool there.
