Plagues, plagues, plagues!
Posted by: Barbara Bibel

H1N1 is the plague du jour, but history is full of them. A new online exhibit from the National Library of Medicine gives us insight into some of the diseases that public health officials work to prevent. They are still with us, but it is interesting to see how they have been viewed in the past. The posters in this exhibit come from all over the world and date from the 1920s to the 1990s. They deal with malaria, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted disease, and general health issues. Check out the fly on the sandwich!  The commentary section provides context.
