Web Site of the Week: TED.com
Posted by: Christine Bulson

The TED in TED.com stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design with a mission of  “spreading ideas.”  The site was launched in April 2007 and now contains more than 500 talks.  The videos are arranged by broad subjects – business, science, global issues and of course technology, entertainment and design.  Speakers include novelist Isabelle Allende and Chris Anderson of  Wired Magazine to the musician Benjamin Zander speaking on Passion and Music.  Each talk is from three to twenty minutes in length and viewers are encouraged to discuss the speech with other visitors online.  Recently TED added a “Best of the Web” where a speech is posted weekly including Steve Jobs giving a commencement address at a Stanford University and musician Bobby McFerrin at the World Science Festival illustrating how our brains our wired.  This is a riveting site for anyone interested in ideas of the best brains of the unknown and famous.
