Posted by: Barbara Bibel

The new book Fever: How Malaria Has Ruled the World for 500,000 Years by Sonia Shah (Farrar Strauss & Giroux, 2010) points out that the lowly protozoa carried by the anopheles mosquito has yet to be conquered by humankind. Those battling this endemic disease have a new free resource from Elsevier. Malaria Nexus at http://www.malarianexus.com/ makes current news, articles from major medical journals such as The Lancet and Trends in Parasitology, podcast interviews with leading researchers, and links to the websites of institutions and organizations involved in combatting  malaria available to anyone who wishes to use them Free registration is required. The site editors are public health workers and academics.  Lists of the top downloaded and top cited articles, many are working hard to find a way to eradicate this disease.
