Web Site of the Week: Wikiquote.org
Posted by: Christine Bulson

Although I will not be in New Orleans for the Annual Conference of ALA, I was perusing the program and noticed two programs related to Wikipedia.  Sue Gardner, Executive Director of  the Wikimedia Foundation will speak at the President’s Program on Sunday, June 26 from 3:30-5:30.  On Monday,  June 27 from 10:30 to noon, Reference Books Bulletin will present a program on the “Wikipedia Effect.”  A recent Web Site of the Week was on Wikipedia and now here is another project of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikiquote.org is a compendium of over 20,000 quotations from individuals, literary works, films, television shows and with additional entries by themes.  There is the ubiquitous miscellaneous section including last words, misquotations, slogans and theatrical plays and musicals.  What a gold mine of information!  Do we still need all the quotation dictionaries?
