Web Site of the Week: TripAdvisor.com

TripAdvisor.com claims that they are the largest travel site with more than 50 million monthly visitors through 18 brands including Airfarewatchdog.com, Cruisecritic.com, Smartertraveler.com, etc.  I find that TripAdvisor is best for discovering what travelers say about specific hotels.  In researching hotels I read the reviews on the site, then click on the hotel website and check availability and rates.  You may do the same thing on TripAdvisor but I have discovered that the website of the hotels usually give more options for special rates and types of rooms.  I also use the site for researching airlines and airfares.  Again I get an idea of the airlines and fares but then choose a specific airline to book the flight.  Recently TripAdvisor is including more replies from hotel staff when travelers comment negatively.  Have a safe, happy, and restful vacation!
