New Science Database for Kids
Posted by: Rebecca Vnuk
Databases designed expressly for children are few and far between. Rosen, publisher of the very successful Teen Health and Wellness, recently launched PowerKids Life Science, an online science resource specifically aimed at learners in grades 3 to 6. Made up of curriculum-correlated content, including more than 400 articles on key life science topics, PowerKids Life Science promotes digital literacy and 21st-century learning skills while offering research, report, and homework help. Features include text-to-speech; interactive games; pictures; video; audio; hands-on science experiments; program ideas; lesson plans; correlation to national, state, and provincial standards; and promotional materials. I’ve had a chance to play around with this database and it’s engaging even for adults. For more information, check out the PowerKids Life Science web page.
