EBSCO Introduces New E-book Models
Posted by: Rebecca Vnuk

Last year, EBSCO jumped into the e-book pool by acquiring NetLibrary from OCLC. In her Off the Shelf column in the January 1, 2011 issue of Booklist, Sue Polanka reported that although EBSCO  was starting out with a one-book, one-user model, they were negotiating with publishers to gain additional rights for multiuser, loan/lease, and subscription models. I received an e-mail today stating that e-books, as well as audiobooks, are now available on the EBSCOhost platform, and moreover that EBSCO is starting to introduce new access models, including three user and unlimited user options. Also coming up are new acquisition models, including options for short-term lease, subscriptions, and Patron Driven Acquisitions.  Here’s a link to the press release.
