Worldometers.info displays real time statistics on broad topics – world population, health, energy, food, water, environment, government and economics and society and media. It might be called a real time Statistical Abstracts plus. Using Society and Media as and example there are real time statistics on new book titles published this year, newspapers circulated today, tv sets and cellular phones sold today, money spent on videogames today, internet users in the world, and the number for today of emails and tweets sent, blog posts written and Google searches. Clicking on an info tab will show where the statistics were obtained. The real time numbers are received from an algorithm and the user is assured that the “data is as accurate as it can get … and numbers are not a 100% accurate representation of the phenomenon, but they nevertheless provide and informative description of it.”
