Web Site of the Week: Measuring Time: Music for 9/11/11
Posted by: Christine Bulson

WQXR and WNYC, public radio stations in New York City, have asked listeners to think about what happened 10 years ago and what music they would like to share. Listeners also have the opportunity to comment on what the music means to them.  For the last week there has been a special web stream playing the requests – a diverse list including performers Jay-Z, John Lennon, U2, Fleet Foxes,  classical compositions such as the requiems of Mozart and Brahms, the Barber Adagio for Strings and Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and patriotic songs. More amazing are the personal remembrances of 9/11 by people who were in the city and around the world. With comments continuing to be written, there are now over 1,500 on Measuring Time.
