Health Information for Developing Countries
Posted by: Barbara Bibel
Finding simple health information in the languages of developing countries just got easier. Hesperian Health Guides, a non-profit dedicated to providing and sharing information with communities just unveiled their new digital commons. It offers health guides in 21 languages. Most of them may be downloaded free as PDFs. Many are also available for e-readers, and all are available in print for a low price. The organization is well known for Where There Is No Doctor, but there are many other titles dealing with dentistry, women's health, and environmental issues. The site also has a resources exchange of free materials and tools for creating pamphlets and flyers. It offers materials about community empowerment, too. Both librarians and health care providers will find many useful resources here.
