Get in Shape
Posted by: Barbara Bibel

Thanksgiving is over and Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza are coming. Holiday parties mean lots of food and drink. It’s easy to pack on a few pounds without trying. You need to stay in shape to maintain your weight or drop the extra that sneaked up on you. As you get older, it may be harder to get motivated to do this. The good folks at the National Institutes of Health Institute on Aging have resources to help you. Got to http://go4life.niapublications.org/ to check out Go4Life. It offers tips for older people who want to stay fit. They include tools to assess fitness level, information on exercising safely, exercise routines, and tips for motivation. There are also resources for family members who want to support the efforts of their relatives, organizations promoting exercise, and health professionals. Free booklets, exercise videos, and promotional materials are available to order, too. So get away from the table, turn off the TV, and go work out. Happy holidays!
